The PADI Open Water Referral Course at Scuba 2000 lets you complete the academic and pool training before your trip. You'll receive your PADI Referral documents so you can finish the open water dives at your vacation destination.

What Is a PADI Open Water Referral?

Instead of spending vacation time in a classroom, complete your scuba training in three parts:

• Part 1: Academic Theory – Online or in-person

• Part 2: Confined Water Dives – In our on-site tropical pool

• Part 3: Four Open Water Dives – Lake or Ocean (completed while on vacation)

This flexible approach saves time and lets you enjoy your holiday right away.

What Will You Learn?

1. Knowledge Development

Learn the core principles of scuba diving, including:

• How to plan dives

• How to choose and use your gear

• Underwater communication and safety

Study at your own pace using the PADI Open Water eLearning. Your instructor will review and support your learning every step of the way.

2. Confined Water Training

Develop scuba skills in our warm indoor pool, including:

• Setting up your scuba gear

• Clearing water from your mask

• Buoyancy control

• Entry, exit, and emergency procedures

Practice with your instructor until you're confident and ready to move on to open water diving.

Part 3 – Finish Your Certification on Vacation

After completing the theory and pool components with us, you'll take your referral paperwork to a PADI dive center anywhere in the world and complete four open water dives with a local instructor.

Course Process

• Complete PADI eLearning at home (approx. 8–10 hours)

• Attend one weekend of pool training

• Private and group course options available

• We accommodate students with special needs—just give us a call

Typical Weekend Schedule:

• Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• Sunday: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  (Final schedule may vary slightly)

Course Fees and Policies

• Course fees are non-refundable once eLearning is redeemed

• Free changes up to 48 hours before start

• $50 fee for changes within 48 hours

• $100 fee for cancellations or no-shows within 24 hours

Health and Prerequisites

• Minimum age: 10 years

• Swim 200 meters unassisted

• Tread water or float for 10 minutes

• Be in good physical health

Medical Questionnaire:

If you answer "Yes" to any question, you’ll need a doctor’s approval before starting the course.

Certification Deadline

You must complete your four open water dives within one year of finishing your pool training. After one year, a refresher course is required before continuing.
