PADI Discover Scuba Diving
Try Scuba Before Starting Certification
Not ready to commit to a full scuba certification course yet? The PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience is a supervised introduction to scuba diving for people who want to try breathing underwater before enrolling in the PADI Open Water Diver course.
At Scuba 2000, your Discover Scuba Diving experience takes place in our private indoor heated pool under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional.
This is not a scuba certification course. It is an introductory PADI experience designed to help you decide whether scuba diving is right for you.
What You Will Do
Your session includes a short safety briefing, equipment orientation, and pool experience.
You will learn how the scuba equipment works, how to breathe underwater, how to communicate using basic hand signals, and how to stay comfortable in the water while supervised by a PADI Professional.
Before You Get in the Water
Before participating, each student must complete the required PADI Discover Scuba Diving paperwork and medical questionnaire.
Students may also be assigned PADI Discover Scuba Diving eLearning before the session. If eLearning is completed in advance, your in-person briefing will include a review with your PADI Professional before entering the pool.
In the Pool
Your PADI Professional will fit you with scuba equipment and explain how to use it safely.
In our indoor pool, you will practice basic scuba skills and then spend time experiencing what it feels like to move and breathe underwater.

E
Mar 27, 2023I recently did a Discovery course at Scuba 2000. I entered a bit nervous and apprehensive but Elaine gave me the confidence to try. She’s patient, kind, and an amazing instructor. She helped troubleshoot the fit of my mask and eased my first moments underwater. Thank you so much Elaine (and Scuba2000) for introducing me to the possibility of the underwater world.
